CV

Isabel Van Bos is a curator, educator, and art writer based in Brussels. Her work moves between curatorial and pedagogical practices, with a strong interest in the political, experimental forms of learning, and the imaginative potential of storytelling.

She currently co-coordinates the postgraduate program in Curatorial Studies at KASK & Conservatorium School of Arts in Ghent. She was additionally responsible for coordinating the Master in Visual Arts program at KASK, where she also supervises young artists during their internships. In 2022–2023

Between 2016 and 2020, she co-developed STRT Kit, a one-year development platform for emerging artists commissioned by Morpho, offering time, space, and resources to support sustainable artistic practices. Alongside this, she led the studio of Italian artist Rossella Biscotti from 2016 to 2021.

Her curatorial projects often arise from long-term collaborations and collective thinking. Together with Evelyn Simons, she initiated "Onder Ons" (CIAP Hasselt, 2016), exploring the living room as a space for shared value-making, and co-curated "I Spy I Spy a Little Lie" (Marres, Maastricht, 2018), awarded the Marres Currents #5 Prize for emerging curatorial talent. She has contributed to exhibitions such as "The Studio Interrupted" (Morpho, 2016), "Spatial Sublation" (WIELS Project Room, 2017), and "Adrianopolis" (Geraardsbergen, 2021), a public sculpture project realized with Godart Bakkers. In 2017, she was a resident at Art Space Pythagorion (Greece), invited by Katerina Gregos and the Schwarz Foundation.

In 2024, she co-organised "Making the World More Than Less Real", a two-day gathering in collaboration with S.M.A.K. Ghent, exploring feminist pedagogies in curatorial education. The program brought together artists, writers, and thinkers such as Annie Jael Kwan, the Autocoscienza Writing Group, Nuraini Juliastuti, Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez, Matylda Taszycka (AWARE), and Lola Olufemi to reflect on curating as a collective and critical practice.

As an educator, Isabel has been involved in several pedagogical formats. Together with Rossella Biscotti, she co-taught the summer workshop "Translating Spatial Stories" at the Summer Academy of Fine Arts Salzburg (2021, 2022). She also initiated and curated "Will You Swim in My Currents?", the graduation show at Sint Lucas Antwerp in 2021.

Beyond her curatorial and educational work, Isabel serves on the grant committee for audiovisual and visual arts of the Flemish Community and is a board member of Rendez-Vous, Brussels Art Week.

She holds a Master's degree in Film Studies and Visual Culture (University of Antwerp, 2012) and a Postgraduate in Curatorial Studies (KASK, 2015). As a writer, she regularly contributes to De Witte Raaf, Metropolis M, and other art publications.
